Reglazing vs. Replacing

Reglazing vs. Replacing

What is bathtub reglazing or refinishing? Bathtub refinishing consists of restoring the surface of the bathtub by repairing imperfections or surface damage and to improve its appearance by applying one or more coats of specialized finish such as polyurethane or epoxy. Oftentimes, the existing finish must be removed before the new finish can be applied. Replacing a bathtub is costly and involves a more involved construction process. Removing the old tub and shower may uncover many potential complications including the inability to fit a new tub into the same location without extensive construction work or possible unexpected plumbing issues. Refinishing may be a better option Are you planning to sell your home? You'll want your bathroom to be fresh and bright. Do you have a colorful blue, brown or pink tub? We can help by refinishing it in white. If your tubs and showers have become discolored and dingy, we'll apply a bright finish to make it look like new again. Scratches and chips in the original finish are unattractive. We can repair those chips and refinish the entire tub to help it look like new again.

Care Instructions

Care Instructions

Caring For Your Refinished Surfaces Due to the non-porous surface of the finish, there is no need to use abrasive cleansers on refinished bathtubs, showers, sinks & countertops. Many household liquid detergents will give excellent results. To remove mineral stains, use a mild acid solution such as a liquid bowl cleaner.
All organic coatings must cure. They start to cure at the time of application and must cure for a total of approximately 30 days.
Top Ten List of Rules For Your Refinished Surfaces: DO NOT use the surface for the specified number of days or hours indicated by the refinisher who completed the job. Typically, we recommend waiting 48 hours before using your tub, shower, sink or refinished countertops DO NOT leave soap, bottles or other objects on the finish. DO NOT let a leaky faucet go unrepaired. DO NOT use abrasive cleansers.
No S.O.S® Pads
No Comet® or Ajax®
No Soft Scrub® DO NOT use loose bath mats with suctions underneath. DO NOT pick surface dust off with your finger. Any surface dust will dissipate in 3-4 weeks with normal cleaning and usage. The best way to keep your new surface clean is to wipe it down with a towel after each use. You don't have to wipe it dry. Maintain caulking around the tub. Here are some good cleansers to use:
Lysol Basin and Tile Cleaner
Mr. Clean
Fantastik
Scrubbing Bubbles Wax tubs once every 4 months with a spray-on wax. You should wax your bathtub within 30 days after it has been refinished.

Tub and Shower Inlays

Tub and Shower Inlays

Cracks, holes and other major damage in the bottom of tubs and showers can be repaired using an inlay that is custom manufactured to the exact measurement of each tub or shower bottom. Our inlays permanently repair cracks and other damage in the bottom of fiberglass, plastic and acrylic fixtures. When professionally installed this is a permanent fix! A properly installed bathtub or shower inlay is extremely durable and won't crack or delaminate from the surface.

Fiberglass Repair

Fiberglass Repair

Fiberglass showers and tubs are susceptible to cracking due to excessive flexing when adequate support is not present below the surface. During the installation of your fiberglass tub or shower, proper support may have been overlooked. Damage resulting from improper support, caused by the additional flexing, can include cracking of the gelcoat (the finished surface of the tub or shower), and/or cracking of the fiberglass structure.
When the gelcoat cracks you may notice many small hairline cracks in the finished surface of the tub or shower. The cracks can be short or long and they typically run along the corners. These cracks are often called spider cracks. The presence of spider cracks do not necessarily indicate there is damage to the underlying fiberglass structure. It is likely that the spider cracks have been created due to an excessive amount of flex in the bottom of the tub. We'll need to address the cause of the flexing first.
